Have a Senior Model Party!

So you're a Junior in high school, have a lot of friends, and love being in front of the camera.  Well do we ever have an opportunity for you!  Apply as a Senior Model on our website at www.asliceoflifeseniors.com (under "The 411" area) and if you're chosen, we'll do a free session with you and several of your friends.  Too good to be true?  Well as they say, there is no such thing as a free lunch.  But trust me, this is a deal that you wouldn't want to miss.

All we ask in return is that you bring along at least 3 of your friends and one parent to the viewing.  We supply munchies and the entertainment (a music slide show of the best images), and that's it.  It's a great way to introduce our services to your friends and family, and heck we always like entertaining people.

Make sure you note that you're interested in the group modeling session when you apply.  There are only a few openings available each year so this isn't open to everyone that applies.  Make sure you don't wait too long!

Refer 3, Get 3 Free!

Seniors, have I got a great deal for you!  Refer 3 of your friends to A Slice of Life Photography that book sessions with us, you can get 3 duplicate 3x3" Accordian Albums with your favorite images from your session.  That's one for you, one for mom, and one for dad...or maybe one for you, one for your boyfriend/girlfriend and one for your favorite grandparent.  You decide!

The albums cannot be ordered until all 3 friends book their session and place a $250 minimum order.  You can choose from 10 different designs and these cool albums even have a magnetic closure on them!  They're too fun and can be carried easily in a purse or pocket.

Don't let this great opportunity pass you by!  Purchased, these three albums would normally cost you $275, so that's a pretty good investment for telling your friends about us.  And when you think A Slice of Life Photography can't get any better, we do!

Michelle Hamed - San Pasqual High School

Meet our latest Senior Model for San Pasqual High School, Michelle Hamed.  Funny story how I met Michelle.  I was in line at a Vons Grocery Store one Friday evening and happened to be behind a beautiful young lady wearing a San Pasqual Track Team shirt.  I really liked her look so I asked her if she went to San Pasqual.  Low and behold, she was an outgoing Junior so I asked her to submit an application to me to be one of my Models.  So long story short, you never know when you might be discovered!

Athena Miranda - San Pasqual High School Senior Model

I am proud to announce the first Senior Model from San Pasqual High School, and it's Athena Miranda!  A Junior at SPHS, Athena was a pleasure to photograph and we decided to go to Downtown Escondido for a session with her and her friends, Jacky and Josue.  As a Senior Model, you receive a free session and music slide show plus cards to hand out to other Juniors with your photo.  These cards entitle friends to receive 8 free wallets with any paid senior session!  For referring her friends, Athena will earn free photographs and will automatically be entered to win a $100 VISA Gift Card if she is the top referring Model.

Here is a look at some of her favorite shots from that day.  If you like what you see, call us an book an appointment for your Senior Session.  Remember, your school may have gone contract for the yearbook photograph, but you can have your yearbook photo taken for free and it's your choice on who to pick for your creative session.  Since we aren't stuck rushing through hundreds of senior portrait sessions every year, we are able to give you the time and personal service to truly capture your personality.  But don't wait, we only book a certain number of sessions every year.

Brett McBride - San Pasqual High School

When Brett pulled up in his hot BMW, I knew we needed to head over to my favorite alley and get some great shots of him with it.  Oh, and if you haven't read the senior profile on Mikaela down below, this is the same guy who has a Swedish foreign exchange student living with him.  Not shabby, huh?

I've met Brett and his family before since I was his older sister's wedding photographer last year.  The whole family is really nice and as I really hope for, I become a family photographer for life.  Not many guys really enjoy the whole senior portrait thing, but I try to make it a lot of fun and fun is what we had.  Brett booked my popular Downtown Session, and we drove around hitting a couple of my favorite spots as well as ending at Grape Day Park.  He was well prepared too with his rugby gear so we could get a couple of photos of that.  I'm really big on school activities, hobbies, and interests.  I like to make sure I'm capturing a senior's personality and what they are into.

Well Brett, I think you got some amazing shots!  Your whole family is really good looking, so was there any question that your photographs would be anything but fab?  I hope you had as much fun as I did.

Mikaela Giertta - San Pasqual High School

So I was having so much fun photographing Mikaela the other day.  I mentioned to her how closely she resembles Super Model Christie Brinkley, and I'm not sure if it's because Mikaela is an exchange student from Sweden or if it's because of my age, but she didn't know who Christie Brinkley is!  Ouch!  So for those of you who are just too young to remember her (and I even remember Super Model Cheryl Tiegs), go ahead and google her.  Then you tell me what you think, is Mikaela the next Christie Brinkley?

Mikaela decided to book the Downtown Session.  We started off on Grand Avenue and made our way to Grape Day Park.  I have some of my favorite spots but this time I came with a secret weapon, my collection of brightly colored paper parasols!  I chose the turquoise blue one for her and we had fun using it as a prop.  And yes ladies, you too can have fun photos taken with a parasol.  The colors I have in stock right now are Bright Fuschia Pink, Mango Orange, Turquoise Blue, Bright Grass Green and Off White.  I'll be stocking up on more colors soon.  Let me know if you have any suggestions for colors.

Mikaela is living with the McBride Family here in Escondido.  She will be returning to Sweden this summer and we will miss her a lot.  I designed a beautiful album with her images and even had "Import of Sweden" put on one of the pages.  You'll have to stop by my home studio to see it, it's incredible!

Cache Perdue - Escondido High School

Let's hear it for my #1 model and senior client, Cache Perdue! Cache wanted to come in and take some more photographs to showcase off her personality, including snowboarding, softball and her favorite dress. We came up with some great images and we were even able to use some of my newest backgrounds. I have a sampling of some of my favorite images below.

Thanks Cache for being such an easy model! I know your mom's going to hate me because she already has picked out too many good shots from the sessions we did before. Oh well, that's what happens when someone is so photogenic!

Free Animoto Slide Show for Feb/March Sessions!

Well Spring is right around the corner and the phone is starting to ring for senior sessions again. So after keeping things on the backburner these last few months, I decided it was time to offer a new special to the high school seniors out there. After careful thinking, I decided to give away a FREE Animoto slide show to each session that books between now and March 31st. These slide shows will feature the best images from each session and can be posted on your Facebook or MySpace sites. And from each image that is ordered, I will give you a low res file to use on your phone, blog, networking sites, etc. How fun is that? For a preview of what an Animoto slide show is, click below:

Dylan Douglas - Classical Academy High School

How much fun is it to take senior photographs with your super cool car? That's what Dylan Douglas decided to do. We will be doing another session soon with his dirt bike wearing full gear so that will be another blog entry.

Dylan chose to do a "Hollywood Glamour" session, which is studio session utilizing a large reflector and direct crisp lighting. It's basically the style from the 40's, and as the saying goes, what's old is new again. A lot of my senior clients are liking this style, especially since I'm the only photographer in town offering it. After the studio session, we drove over to Grape Day Park for his outdoor photographs and were able to get some really terrific shots that showed off Dylan's great smile and blue eyes. I'm sure Dylan has plenty of girls chasing after him with his good looks and cool car.

I've compiled some of my favorite photographs from the day. Just remember, if you want to personalize your session like Dylan did, let me know what you love and what your hobbies are. Your senior photographs should be more than just a smile looking into the camera, they should be memories of who you are at this important time of your life.

Nick Ontiveros - Escondido Charter High School

Funny story about Nick. I know his mom and grandparents through a friend, but that isn't what made Nick choose me as his senior portrait photographer. Although he was referred to me, he checked out other photographers' sites but liked how my work was different and more his style. I'm so glad he did, because I got some amazing shots of him both in studio and at Kit Carson Park & Grape Day Park. His easy-going personality and great big smile made him a truly photogenic senior. I'm sharing some of my favorite images from that day. Also notice the camera? Love that shot of Nick with his prized Canon! Of course anyone who shoots Canon is cool in my book.

Nicole and Dana - San Pasqual High School

It was a hot July day, in fact the last day of July, 2009. I spent the afternoon with Nicole Amy and Dana Hill, seniors at San Pasqual High School, in Downtown Escondido and Grape Day Park. We had a lot of fun taking both fashion style "Trash the Prom Dress" photos as well as more traditional photos, ala Heidi (that's me!) Check out how great they turned out! I know both Nicole and Dana were a little shy at first, but boy did they turn into some awesome models!

Don't forget that August senior sessions include two free movie tickets and a $5 gift card to Cold Stone Creamery. It's a really hot month so why not enjoy it cooling off with some ice cream and then hanging out in a cool movie theater? Who could ask for more? Sessions are limited so don't wait too long or you might miss out.

So What's the August Special?

Wow, school is already in session on August 10th! And did you have your free yearbook photograph taken? Don't forget, the contract photographer is only for the yearbook photograph, not for your paid creative session. So if you haven't already booked your session, do we have a deal for you!

During the month of August, we are giving away 2 unrestricted movie tickets to Regal Cinema, Edwards, or United Artists & a $5 gift card to Cold Stone Creamery for every paid session. How awesome is that?

So tell your friends, tell your parents, and make sure to call us to book your session. There are limited booking in August so don't delay! 760.739.9580

Fun with Trash The Prom Dress

For those of you who missed out on our Trash The Prom Dress special, I have a few samples to share. These photos are of Elisa Minamide and Kara Gustafson from San Pasqual High School. They brought along two sets of prom dresses and we took photos of them both separately and together. Even with the 95 degree heat, we still had a lot of fun and got some great photos. Thanks to Elisa and Kara for being so photogenic!
