Busy Month...Lots of Slide Shows!

I've been naughty about keeping up with my senior session slide shows but I finally uploaded some of my recent sessions today.  There is a great mix of styles and backgrounds and of course I had so much fun on each of these sessions.  I am so blessed to work with some awesome seniors who make these sessions a blast!

It's not too late to still book a creative session with A Slice of Life Photography.  September is the last month that I am providing gift cards to seniors who book, in fact September is the $15 Starbucks Gift Card to help students get through the first month of school.  Summer sure did fly by and it seems that we didn't start getting that hot summer weather until school was back in session.  Hmmmm...does that mean that everyone will be lying out at the beach over Thanksgiving Holiday?

Ariana Owens - Escondido High School

I recently purchased a few new props for my senior portrait studio sessions and was thrilled to use the new chandelier with Ariana Owens.  Ariana loved my secret garden that I use typically for children's portraits so after our studio session we headed outside.  We came up with a lot of great images and I really had fun taking her photos.  She's a natural model so she didn't need a lot of help with posing.  Enjoy her slideshow!

Michelle Hamed - San Pasqual High School

Meet our latest Senior Model for San Pasqual High School, Michelle Hamed.  Funny story how I met Michelle.  I was in line at a Vons Grocery Store one Friday evening and happened to be behind a beautiful young lady wearing a San Pasqual Track Team shirt.  I really liked her look so I asked her if she went to San Pasqual.  Low and behold, she was an outgoing Junior so I asked her to submit an application to me to be one of my Models.  So long story short, you never know when you might be discovered!

Natasha Pell - Escondido High School

When Natasha called me to set up her Senior Model Session, I was excited to hear that she had raised a lamb at the school's FFA program and wanted to take photographs with it.  Being a big animal lover, I was all over that in a minute!  Escondido High School's FFA area is very well taken care of and I found many different areas for some amazing photographs.  I really hope more the FFA students call me for sessions because it's just too fun to be around the pigs, cows, sheep and more.

After we were done there, we headed over to the alleys of Escondido to find some really hot new spots with lots of graphic design.  And sure enough, we found them!  Natasha did an amazing job and I look forward to photographing her again during her senior year.  Oh, and if I didn't mention it before, those Juniors who are lucky enough to be selected as one of my Senior Models get not only a free session, but also a free animoto slide show for both their Facebook page and to upload to an electronic device from iTunes.  Also, if you're interested in booking a session with A Slice of Life Photography, go find Natasha and ask her for a referral card that will get you 8 free wallets.  But hurry, she only has 75 of these cards to pass out so when they're gone, they're gone!

Awesome New Product Line!

Just when you think that there's nothing new you can offer your clients, out comes something that you just have to have.  That's how I felt about these custom skins for all your electronic devices, including cell phones, music players, laptops and more.  So our newest line of custom products is the SeniorSkins, custom designed with your favorite senior session image and your favorite colors.  How cool is that to have a phone or music player that no one can mistake to be anyone's but yours?  Just one more reason to book Heidi at A Slice of Life Photography for your creative senior session!

Oh, and don't forget to check out our website for our Sizzling Hot Summer Specials!

Jacey Corley - San Pasqual High School

What better time to do a Downtown Senior Session than on Cruisin' Grand Night! I had the pleasure of photographing Jacey Corley on the streets of Escondido as well as Grape Day Park for one of my "Downtown Sessions." I loved the fact that Jacey had her trunk packed with clothes so we had lots of great choices for wardrobe. And of couse I am always a sucker for hats!! I love to have lots of props and personal effects at my sessions and Jacey did not disappoint! Thanks Jacey for making your session so much fun! To get a sneak peak at some of her favorite images, just watch the slide show...

Brett McBride - San Pasqual High School

When Brett pulled up in his hot BMW, I knew we needed to head over to my favorite alley and get some great shots of him with it.  Oh, and if you haven't read the senior profile on Mikaela down below, this is the same guy who has a Swedish foreign exchange student living with him.  Not shabby, huh?

I've met Brett and his family before since I was his older sister's wedding photographer last year.  The whole family is really nice and as I really hope for, I become a family photographer for life.  Not many guys really enjoy the whole senior portrait thing, but I try to make it a lot of fun and fun is what we had.  Brett booked my popular Downtown Session, and we drove around hitting a couple of my favorite spots as well as ending at Grape Day Park.  He was well prepared too with his rugby gear so we could get a couple of photos of that.  I'm really big on school activities, hobbies, and interests.  I like to make sure I'm capturing a senior's personality and what they are into.

Well Brett, I think you got some amazing shots!  Your whole family is really good looking, so was there any question that your photographs would be anything but fab?  I hope you had as much fun as I did.

Mikaela Giertta - San Pasqual High School

So I was having so much fun photographing Mikaela the other day.  I mentioned to her how closely she resembles Super Model Christie Brinkley, and I'm not sure if it's because Mikaela is an exchange student from Sweden or if it's because of my age, but she didn't know who Christie Brinkley is!  Ouch!  So for those of you who are just too young to remember her (and I even remember Super Model Cheryl Tiegs), go ahead and google her.  Then you tell me what you think, is Mikaela the next Christie Brinkley?

Mikaela decided to book the Downtown Session.  We started off on Grand Avenue and made our way to Grape Day Park.  I have some of my favorite spots but this time I came with a secret weapon, my collection of brightly colored paper parasols!  I chose the turquoise blue one for her and we had fun using it as a prop.  And yes ladies, you too can have fun photos taken with a parasol.  The colors I have in stock right now are Bright Fuschia Pink, Mango Orange, Turquoise Blue, Bright Grass Green and Off White.  I'll be stocking up on more colors soon.  Let me know if you have any suggestions for colors.

Mikaela is living with the McBride Family here in Escondido.  She will be returning to Sweden this summer and we will miss her a lot.  I designed a beautiful album with her images and even had "Import of Sweden" put on one of the pages.  You'll have to stop by my home studio to see it, it's incredible!

Karissa Nouzovsky - Escondido High School

Wow, can you say knock out! That's exactly what Karissa is, such a photogenic beauty and a lot of fun too! We did a "Downtown" session and hit a couple of my favorite spots. I'm so thrilled that Karissa brought along some great clothing choices and matching accessories. Most seniors don't understand the importance of accessories and how they can make or break an outfit. I'm posting some of my favorite shots of the day, and I think you'll agree that Karissa doesn't take a bad photo.

A senior at Escondido High School, Karissa and I talked a little about school and I even got her to give me some really great smiles when I had her tell me about her boyfriend, Ricky. Thank you Ricky, even without being there you were able to help me get some great expressions. Karissa's mom came along to help also and keep an eye out for messy hair or clothing out of place. I always enjoy it when there's another person to help me look for things out of place.

For those Juniors at EHS that don't already know it, I'm looking for 2 more Senior Models for Escondido High. Go to my website and apply online. We are very selective of our models and are looking for students who want to earn money and free stuff for promoting our services. You even get a free session with A Slice of Life Photography! How cool is that? http://www.asliceoflifeseniors.com/

Cache Perdue - Escondido High School

Let's hear it for my #1 model and senior client, Cache Perdue! Cache wanted to come in and take some more photographs to showcase off her personality, including snowboarding, softball and her favorite dress. We came up with some great images and we were even able to use some of my newest backgrounds. I have a sampling of some of my favorite images below.

Thanks Cache for being such an easy model! I know your mom's going to hate me because she already has picked out too many good shots from the sessions we did before. Oh well, that's what happens when someone is so photogenic!

Free Animoto Slide Show for Feb/March Sessions!

Well Spring is right around the corner and the phone is starting to ring for senior sessions again. So after keeping things on the backburner these last few months, I decided it was time to offer a new special to the high school seniors out there. After careful thinking, I decided to give away a FREE Animoto slide show to each session that books between now and March 31st. These slide shows will feature the best images from each session and can be posted on your Facebook or MySpace sites. And from each image that is ordered, I will give you a low res file to use on your phone, blog, networking sites, etc. How fun is that? For a preview of what an Animoto slide show is, click below:

Dylan Douglas - Classical Academy High School

How much fun is it to take senior photographs with your super cool car? That's what Dylan Douglas decided to do. We will be doing another session soon with his dirt bike wearing full gear so that will be another blog entry.

Dylan chose to do a "Hollywood Glamour" session, which is studio session utilizing a large reflector and direct crisp lighting. It's basically the style from the 40's, and as the saying goes, what's old is new again. A lot of my senior clients are liking this style, especially since I'm the only photographer in town offering it. After the studio session, we drove over to Grape Day Park for his outdoor photographs and were able to get some really terrific shots that showed off Dylan's great smile and blue eyes. I'm sure Dylan has plenty of girls chasing after him with his good looks and cool car.

I've compiled some of my favorite photographs from the day. Just remember, if you want to personalize your session like Dylan did, let me know what you love and what your hobbies are. Your senior photographs should be more than just a smile looking into the camera, they should be memories of who you are at this important time of your life.

Zach Behnke

So where do you go for a totally San Diego Senior Portrait when you move from the midwest? The beach, of course! That's exactly what Zach Behnke wanted for his session so we drove to Warmwater Beach in Carlsbad for his session. Zach's fun personality and total ham for the camera made him one of my favorite seniors so far. He brought along his guitar and classic fedora for personality shots, so I'm really happy about that. Having personal items helps me to capture the real senior.

Here are some of my and Zach's favorite shots. Luckily we had a great sunset to work with as well as great weather. Thanks Zach for making this such a fun session!
